Brand History:
Drambuie has one of the most legendary and romanticized origins in liqueur history. According to tradition, after the Battle of Culloden in 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie (Prince Charles Edward Stuart) fled Scotland and sought sanctuary with Captain John MacKinnon of Clan MacKinnon on the Isle of Skye. As a token of gratitude for the captain's protection, the Prince allegedly gave him a precious recipe for a personal elixir—a concentrated herbal tincture created by his Royal Apothecary. The recipe was closely guarded and produced privately by successive generations of the MacKinnon family for nearly 150 years.
