Brand History In 1758, Jose Antonio de Cuervo founded the world's first commercially cultivated agave farm in Jalisco, Mexico. In 1795, the Spanish Crown granted Cuervo the first official tequila distillery license. An 11th-generation family-owned Mexican company, Jose Cuervo operates La Rojeña—the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Americas, established 1812.
