Brand History
Amaro Montenegro is a classic Italian herbal liqueur (amaro) created in 1885 by Stanislao Cobianchi in Bologna, Italy. Renamed in 1896 to honor Princess Elena of Montenegro upon her marriage to Prince Victor Emmanuel III, it is known for its approachable, well-balanced bittersweet profile, making it a “gateway amaro” compared to more intensely bitter options like Fernet-Branca.
