Tanqueray Malacca Distilled Gin

Distilled gin produced in a contemporary style often used as a premium substitute for Old Tom Gin. Alcohol content is 41.3% ABV (82.6 proof); the original 1990s launch was 47.3% ABV. The gin is distilled four times in column stills. The recipe reduces juniper prominence in favor of citrus and spices, including grapefruit peel, lemon zest, peppercorn, ginger root, cloves, nutmeg, cassia bark, juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice, rosewater, and rose petals. The appearance is clear and crystalline. No specific still sizes or botanical proportions are specified by the producer. The recipe was inspired by an 1839 entry in founder Charles Tanqueray's travel diaries regarding the Straits of Malacca. Originally launched in 1997, discontinued, then resurrected due to bartender demand and released periodically as limited-edition runs.
