Created in 1896 by Matthew Gloag & Son in Perth, Scotland, as "The Grouse" blend, it was renamed The Famous Grouse in 1905 and became Scotland's best-selling Scotch since 1980 under Edrington Group until acquired by William Grant & Sons in 2025.
