History
The Balvenie Distillery, founded in 1892 by William Grant in Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland, was built on a 12-acre site adjacent to Glenfiddich, originally named Glen Gordon before adopting the name from the nearby Balvenie Castle ruins, which were repurposed as maltings in 1893.
