Founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher to secure malt for Teacher’s Highland Cream, Ardmore sits near Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire and long served as the principal malt in the Teacher’s blend.
The distillery grew from two to eight stills through expansions in 1955 and 1974, reflecting Teacher’s brand growth and Ardmore’s blending importance. Ardmore is among the few Highland distilleries making fully peated malt as a house style, a tradition maintained since 1898.
Alongside its peated output, Ardmore also produces unpeated spirit called Ardlair for part of the year, highlighting production versatility.
