Brand History:
Disaronno Originale has one of the most romantic and storied origins in liqueur history. According to legend, in 1525, Renaissance artist Bernardino Luini—a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci—was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna in the church of Saronno, Italy. He chose a beautiful local innkeeper as his muse for the Madonna's portrait. As a token of gratitude, the innkeeper created a special amber liqueur infused with apricot kernels and secret herbs, which she gifted to the artist. This became the foundation of what would evolve into Disaronno.
