Tasting Notes

AromaPungent, aggressive, and aromatic with heavy blackstrap molasses, warm brown sugar, artificial vanilla extract, sharp medicinal ethanol heat, and hints of ripe banana.

PalateFull-bodied, heavy, and distinctively sweet with liquid caramel, sweet toffee, dark chocolate bitterness, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper.

FinishLong, intensely warming, and sweet with a scratchy spirit burn, charred oak, and lingering sweet vanilla syrup.

Product Story & Guide

A dark rum made from 100% sugarcane blackstrap molasses through multi-column still distillation, matured for a standardized 7 years in heavily charred seasoned white oak casks. It is a vatted rum, meaning different age stocks are married together before bottling. It is heavily adjusted post-aging with spirit-safe caramel colorant (E150a) to achieve its signature opaque, near-black appearance. It is bottled at 42.8% ABV for the domestic market and 40% ABV for export. The liquid presents a deep, near-opaque dark mahogany color with thick, slow-moving legs. The bottle features a distinctive crinkled texture originally designed to mask glass imperfections.
