Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a benchmark Islay single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Ardbeg Distillery on the south coast of Islay, Scotland . It is matured for a minimum of 10 years in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak casks, non-chill filtered, and bottled at a robust 46% ABV . The peat level is exceptionally high, averaging around 50–55 PPM . The flavor profile features intense peat smoke, lemon and lime, black pepper, medicinal tarry rope, sea spray, vanilla, chewy peat, dry espresso, salted caramel, ash, ripe bananas, liquorice, beach bonfire smoke, tar, and toasted marshmallow .
