Distilled Scottish gin. Alcohol content is 41.4% ABV (82.8 proof) in the UK/EU, and 44% ABV (88 proof) in the US and duty-free markets. The gin is produced using a marriage of spirits from two stills: the Bennett still (direct boiling of botanicals for rich, intense spirit) and the Carter-Head still (vapour infusion for light, ethereal distillate), which are then blended and finished with fruit and flower essences. The recipe includes 11 traditional botanicals (Italian juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, cubeb berries, grains of paradise, yarrow, chamomile, caraway seed, elderflower, lemon and orange peel) plus two signature post-distillation infusions: Bulgarian rose essential oil and cucumber essence. The appearance is crystal clear. Packaging is a dark brown apothecary-style glass bottle. No specific still sizes, vacuum pressure levels, or individual botanical proportions are specified by the producer. The brand was launched in 1999 by William Grant & Sons and was conceived by master distiller Lesley Gracie.
