Talisker 18 Year Old is a premium Island single malt Scotch whisky that undergoes maturation for at least 18 years. It is aged in a combination of American oak ex‑bourbon casks and European oak casks, which gives it a rich and complex profile. The whisky is known for its maritime, smoky, and sweet flavour profile, with a moderate peat influence. Bottled at 45.8% ABV, it delivers an excellent balance of sweetness, spice, and peat.

Tasting Notes

Aroma:
In my tastings, Talisker 18 Year Old presents aromas of rich fruit, such as plums and dried orange peel, with hints of honey, soft peat smoke, and a maritime saltiness. There’s a subtle undertone of toffee and oak spice.

Palate:
I find the palate smooth and full‑bodied with flavours of baked apples, orange marmalade, dark toffee, and a light smokiness that develops into peppery spice. The oak adds a rounded dryness that balances the sweetness.

Finish:
The finish is long, warm, and lingering, with smokiness, mild pepper, and oak spice that fades with a faint citrus note.

Balance, Complexity:
Talisker 18 Year Old presents a beautifully balanced profile where sweet fruit, smoky peat, oak spice, and maritime saltiness are integrated seamlessly. The whisky has a moderate complexity, characteristic of a well-aged Island single malt.
