Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore

Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore is a red wine from the Bolgheri DOC Superiore appellation, produced by Tenuta dell'Ornellaia from a Bordeaux blend of 50-55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25-32% Merlot, 10-13% Cabernet Franc, and 5-10% Petit Verdot sourced from alluvial clay, limestone, tuff, and deep sand soils. Hand-picked clusters undergo two sorting phases with each variety and block fermented separately in stainless steel or concrete vats with 15-20 days maceration. Malolactic fermentation occurs in oak barriques. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques (70% new, 30% used), with blending after 12 months and 6 additional months in barrel, followed by 12 months bottle maturation. Bottled at 14.5-15% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The profile is full-bodied and opulent with blackcurrant, dark cherry, and cedar notes.
