Opus One is an ultra-premium Napa Valley red wine, founded in 1980 as a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. It is a Bordeaux-style blend sourced from 170 acres of estate vineyards including To Kalon, Ballestra, and River parcels. The 2021 vintage comprises 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Merlot, and 0.5% Malbec. It is aged 17 to 19.5 months in 100% new French oak barriques, then bottle-aged 1.5 years. It is bottled between 13.5% and 14.5% ABV and available in 750ml size. The flavour profile features crushed cassis, black plum, wild blackberries, black cherry, violet flowers, rose petals, graphite, baking spices, sandalwood, vanilla bean, dark fruit preserves, black tea leaves, licorice, espresso beans, dark chocolate bitterness, minerals, and savory acid.
