Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie is a landmark Islay single malt that subverts regional expectations by being entirely unpeated, focusing instead on heavy grain provenance, slow distillation, and complete transparency. It is housed in the distillery's iconic highly recognizable aqua/teal-coloured bottle. Made from 100% Scottish-grown malted barley, with Bruichladdich meticulously sourcing single-farm, organic, and hyper-local Islay barley crops to emphasize terroir. Peat level is 0 PPM, with the barley dried strictly with hot air retaining zero smoky phenols. Water is sourced from Octomore Spring on Islay for both mashing and reduction. Exceptionally long fermentation cycles of approximately 60 to 105 hours in traditional Douglas fir washbacks promote heavy floral ester development. Trickle-distilled very slowly through tall narrow-necked flat-topped copper pot stills, maximizing copper contact. 100% matured entirely on Islay by the sea, absorbing maritime atmospheric salinity. The Classic Laddie does not use a fixed wood recipe; Head Distiller Adam Hannett curates individual distinct batches weaving together up to 80+ distinct casks, primarily first-fill and second-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels and premium European French oak wine casks. Non-chill filtered with no caramel coloring. Bottled at 50% ABV (100 Proof) in 700ml size. Features pale sunlight / natural straw color.
