Jim Beam Black Label (Extra-Aged) is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. It is made from a traditional mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley. The whiskey undergoes a longer aging process than the standard Jim Beam, spending more time in new charred American oak barrels to develop a more refined and complex flavor profile. It is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), which gives it a slightly stronger, fuller-bodied taste compared to the standard version.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: In my tastings, Jim Beam Black presents a rich nose with sweet notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak. The aromas are complemented by subtle grainy cereal and hints of light spice from the rye.

Palate: On the palate, Jim Beam Black Label is medium-bodied, with a balance of sweet caramel and vanilla, along with a touch of oak and light spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The extra aging brings forward a richer depth compared to the standard expression, with a smooth texture that allows the flavors to evolve on the tongue.

Finish: The finish is smooth, with lingering oak and mild spice. It has a clean, slightly dry aftertaste with a gentle warmth that fades slowly, leaving behind a subtle sweetness and soft woodiness.
