First bottled by Matthew Gloag & Son in Perth in 1896 as “The Grouse,” it was renamed “The Famous Grouse” in 1905 with the red grouse emblem drawn by Gloag’s daughter Phillippa.
It has been Scotland’s best‑selling whisky since 1980, reflecting wide domestic popularity before growing into a major export brand with a Royal Warrant.The blend features selected single malts such as Highland Park and Macallan married with quality grain whisky for consistency and balance.
Core whisky is married in sherry‑seasoned casks before bottling, a step that adds rounded fruit and gentle sweetness to the profile.
